No doubt about it, Sierra Jensen has just had the best summer of her life! But now that she's back from a whirlwind trip to Switzerland with her friend Christy Miller, Sierra isn't quite sure if the school year will turn out as she planned.

The school administration has come down hard with an ultimatum for her buddy Randy, and Sierra must decide who or what's right her friend or the rules.

To make matters worse, her closet friend still isn't talking to her, and all of Sierra's efforts to fix their relationship seem headed for disaster.

The hardest part, though, is waiting to hear from Paul. He hasn't replied to her recent letters, and every day that passes without a response causes Sierra to grow more anxious.

Her whole family is going to California to celebrate her sister Tawni's engagement and to help Sierra get settled into her freshman year at college. Finally, the two of them can be together and hopefully decide where things in their relationship stand.

Sierra plans for everything to be perfect, but a costly misunderstanding causes Paul to pull away, and Sierra is forced to leave for college hurt and confused. Suddenly, news breaks of a plane crash out of London and Sierra and her friends are deeply troubled. As the hours tick by, not even Paul's family has heard anything and Sierra is forced to spend a sleepless night wrestling through tears and fears that the worst has happened.

During the trip to California, twists and turns keep Sierra off-balance, including a skateboarding accident, a broken-down car, and even a surprise encounter with old friends.

With college fast approaching, Sierra worries how her choices will affect her high school relationships. And should she wait to hear where Paul plans to go to college before making her decision?

Nearing the end of the trip, Sierra decides the best way to handle a wild ride is to hold on tight, trust God to keep her on track and scream for all she's worth.

Gunn, robin Jones Only You, Sierra - Sierra Jensen Series
Sierra was nervous about the future. She had always been the bold, free-spirited type. But then, her whole foundation of home and family had never before been rocked.

Sierra Jensen settled back into her seat and gazed through the train window at the English countryside. So much was on her mind, and her heart was flooded with emotions. She hoped the friendships she had made with Katie and Christy this past week during the Europe missions trip would last forever.

She dreaded the flight back to the State, knowing that everything would be completely different when she returned home. While in England, Sierra's family had moved to a different state. She hated the thought of going to a new high school in the middle of her junior year, where everybody already had their cliques and boyfriends. The prospect of another dateless year made her heart sink.

She wondered if she'd ever find love, and then in a London airport, she met Paul. Her heart, which had sunk so low, leapt! But of course, it was just a chance meeting-wasn't it? She would never see him again-would she?

Gunn, Robin Jones From the Secret Place in my Heart - Christy Misser's Diary Todd told me earlier he had plans for the evening, and I thought he was going out with another girl. I never guessed the plans were with me!

We finally got to talk about "us," and we both said we wanted to be the kind of friends who were friends forever.

Then Todd stopped at this intersection. He pulled me out of the van, and when we stood in front of the headlights, I realized it was "our" intersection!

I was laughing and telling him this was crazy; and then he gave me this bracelet! It's so beautiful. I love it! It's a gold ID bracelet with the word "Forever" engraved on it. That's when he told me that no matter what happened in the future, we would be friends forever.

I'm smiling so big right now. I've never felt like this before in my whole life-.

Johnson, Lissa Halls Stuck in the Sky Gr. 6-10. High-school juniors Jacie, Solana, Becca, and Tyler have known each other since fourth grade. With the exception of Solana, they are all Christians, referring to themselves as the Brio Girls, which gives rise to the name of this series. Stuck in the Sky focuses on Jacie, a lively teen with an artistic bent, who becomes involved with a young man who doesn't accept her Christian worldview. Jacie's ambivalence about this relationship is compounded by a growing tension toward a new, very outspoken girl who has just joined the group. In Fast Forward, Becca also has problems with the new girl, as well as troubles at home. Both books refrain from providing pat answers to the girls' problems, and readers will appreciate the evenhandedness of the portrayals as the girls settle their differences and work through their own intolerance. Light, pleasurable fare without a lot of heavy moralizing.

MacDonald, George The Princess and Curdie With the help of a mysterious fairy queen who provides monstrous but gentle creatures to aid him, a miner's son takes on the dangerous task of helping the king and princess confound their enemies and save the kingdom
MacDonald, George The Princess and the Goblin Considered by W.H. Auden to be "the only English children's book in the same class as the Alice books," The Princess and the Goblin is a classic example of nineteenth-century children's literary fairy tales. Both this tale and its sequel, The Princess and Curdie, follow in the tradition of the folk tales of Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm, yet also impart to the reader a sense of MacDonald's personal vision and unique style. This volume is the only adult edition of these classics currently in print.
MacDonald, George The complete Fairy Tales The Complete Fairy Tales brings together all eleven of George MacDonald's shorter fairy tales, including "The Light Princess" and "The Golden Key," as well as his essay "The Fantastic Imagination." The subjects are those of traditional fantasy: fairies good and wicked, children embarking on elaborate quests, journeys into unsettling dreamworlds, life-risking labors undertaken. Though they allude to familiar tales such as "Sleeping Beauty" and "Jack the Giant-Killer," MacDonald's stories are profoundly experimental and subversive. By questioning the concept that a childhood associated with purity, innocence, and fairy-tale "wonder" ought to be segregated from adult skepticism and disbelief, they invite adult readers to adopt the same elasticity and openmindedness that come so naturally to a child.
MacDonald, George The Wise Woman The 'Wise Woman' is my favorite fairy tale of all time. George MacDonald is wonderfully creative, pulls in just enough 'magic' to be interesting but not confusing, and builds strong characters. The tale has a very strong moral content which goes almost unnoticed by the strength of the story and its characters. I certainly recommend this for young people but I am a 'Senior Citizen' and still find it delightful and a bit thought provoking.

Morrie, Gilbert Empress of the Underworld This was an extremely enjoyable book. I am a twenty-something and I was enthralled....I had to read it before I gave it to my young sister as a gift....I wanted to be sure that it was a good book. I certainly did not want to give her something that did not represent the values that we have. The young girl Abbey rebels against going on the next mission with the sleepers, she is very vain and wants to stay away so that she can improve her appearance. There is a slight romance in the friendship between two of the characters -- however it is quite pure and fun -- conducted in a manner that shows mutual respect and shared beliefs, a very important thing to represent in this day in age. Although, I must admit that it may be my sense of romance that finds this. Anyways, the real point of the book is Abbey overcoming her vanity. She becomes a slave to the empress who has brainwashed her. This causes her to think that the empress is showing her "the truth" which is (as always when The Adversary is involved)a monumental lie. Only when the true prince of the underground society reminds her of the horror she saw when she first came causes her to come back to reality and find "Goel" in her life..... The rest....aah...the rest is for you to figure out... I would never give the ending completely away. I wanted this to be an outline of the important parts...not a plot summary....I may have failed! :)
Morris, Gilbert The Sword of Camelot - Seven Sleeper Series in this seven sleepers book we find Josh,Sara,Jake,Reb.Wash,Abby, and Dave in Camelot facing dragons, witches, and once again the dark lord and his forces. They must all put their trust in Goel and fight, but one may not be willing!
Morris, Gilbert The Caves that Time Forgot - Seven sleepers Series this book is fantastic! it is sooo good. i mean, i read it like three times, (maybe more), and i'm not sick of it yet. my friend got this book mega-cheap at a garage sale and the only reason she bought it was caus it was accidently in the bag she put books in. i'm really sorry (and mad) she didn't get more. There were a ton of em'! okay, i'll tell you what it is about. see, the seven sleepers were sent to this island to help a bunch of really uncivilized people. they talk to the captain of the boat who brings them there and he shuts up and refuses to talk about it. finally they get the cook or someone to talk about it. he starts babbling bout these monsters on the island. later, the seven sleepers find out the "monsters" were dinosaurs. They also meet 2 tribes that war against each other. They found out about only one at first. or rather, the tribe found them. they were saved from having their hearts cut out by the chief's daughter. they taught the tribe all these stuff, like making bread and weapons and how to help other people. later, they helped make peace between the two tribes. I'm not telling how, that's giving away too much. i've already said too much. all i'm gonna say is the ending is pretty funny, especially to me. darn, i'm really bad at making endings so i guess i'll make an unoriginal ent to match with an unoriginal beggining. You know, great book! the end

Peretti, Frank Hangman's Curse Peretti, long praised for his popular Christian fiction for adults and his strong storytelling style, here turns his talent to young adult fiction with a quick-paced thriller about the evils brought by bullying and intolerance. When the star athletes of a Washington state high school are struck down by debilitating hallucinations, the Springfield family (Nate; his wife, Sarah; and teen twins Elisha and Elijah) go undercover to investigate the mystery. The Springfields operate independently, as the Veritas Project, guided by their Judeo-Christian faith to seek the truth behind strange occurrences. They even have a mobile home nicknamed the Holy Roller. But this setup never seems overly corny in Peretti's hands. As the slightly chilling story unfolds, readers learn about the ghost of Baker High a boy named Abel Frye, who supposedly hung himself in one of the old hallways in the 1930s. Throughout, Peretti paints a realistic picture of the clique-y world of high school that will be familiar to just about anyone. His comfortably paced, compelling performance consistently draws readers along. Peretti has an obvious knack sure to appeal to his intended tween and teen audience for emphasizing his beliefs without preaching. Ages 12-up.
Peretti, Frank Nightmare Academy The Veritas Project team has a new assignment: To find the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of two runaways. When one runaway turns up totally out of his mind and a government agent steps in to take over the case, the Springfield's continue their own investigation. The twins-Elijah and Elisha-go undercover, posing as runaways. What happens next will keep readers on the edge of their seats as the twins end up in a strange academy where Truth is continually challenged, a gang-like war develops, and Elijah is taken to an ominous mansion from which no one has ever returned. A great thriller with a realistic look at right and wrong.

Peretti, Frank E The Door in the Dragon's Throat An American archeologist and his two children seek God's protection and guidance as they journey to the Near East in search of a buried biblical treasure which local residents believe is cursed. --
Peretti, Frank E Escape From the Island of Aquarius Two teenagers and their father brave many dangers on an exotic South Sea island as they search for a missing missionary.
Peretti, Frank E The Tombs of Anak This is a great book! It is very suspenseful, which makes it a perfect read for kids who like suspense. It will be too suspenseful for kids ages 6 & 7 and probably 8, too. The suggested age level is ages 10-14. It has a great message-how greed can overtake you! The Coopers- Jay, Lila, and Dr. Cooper go on another archeological adventure, searching for ancient artifacts. Filled with suspense and harrowing escapes to the very end, this book will keep you very captivated from cover to cover!
Peretti, Frank E Trapped at the bottom of the Sea This is an awesome book. The only series I like better is the Harry Potter series. This in my opinion isn't the best of the series, but it got close because of the suspense. Door in the Dragon's Throat was better because it shows what happens to greedy people and has mystery and a lot of suspense. If I had to rate this book I would say it was an 8/10 because it follows a man of God and also because of the action, the suspense, and other reasons. I would recommend this for kids to adult because of the action, the suspense, and the amazing things that happen.
Peretti, Frank E The Secret of the Desert Stone Biblical archeologist Dr. Jacob Cooper arrives in Togwana with his children Jay and Lila and one goal-to discover the secret behind the two-mile-high Stone that has mysteriously appeared overnight. Who could have excavated, carved, and transported the colossal Stone? The Coopers' uneasiness soon turns into dread as they are watched and threatened by the country's new government and brutal dictator Id Nkromo.

Follow the Coopers as they race to solve the mystery of the desert stone!

Peretti, Frank E The Deadly curse of Toco - Rey Lila and Jay Cooper have joined their dad on a mission to the jungles of Central America, where a group of American treasure hunters have already become the victims of the deadly curse of Toco-Rey. Before Dr. Cooper can solve the mystery, his children are kidnapped and his integrity is put to the test. What price will he pay to get his children back? Is the treasure in the burial tomb of Kachi-Tochetin really worth more than gold?

Follow the Coopers as they explore unknown ruins, plunge through dangerous jungles, face hostile natives, and battle ancient evil forces. Will their courage and faith in God bring them through?

Peretti, Frank E The Legend of Annie Murphy In 1885, the Murphy mine struck gold. According to legend, Annie Murphy killed her husband out of greed, but just before she was to be hanged for the murder, she escaped. Now, a hundred years later, there have been sightings of Annie Murphy's "ghost." The Coopers unwittingly become involved in a mystery that finds them caught between the past and the present.

Tolkien, J R R The Hobbit "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."
The hobbit-hole in question belongs to one Bilbo Baggins, an upstanding member of a "little people, about half our height, and smaller than the bearded dwarves." He is, like most of his kind, well off, well fed, and best pleased when sitting by his own fire with a pipe, a glass of good beer, and a meal to look forward to. Certainly this particular hobbit is the last person one would expect to see set off on a hazardous journey; indeed, when Gandalf the Grey stops by one morning, "looking for someone to share in an adventure," Baggins fervently wishes the wizard elsewhere. No such luck, however; soon 13 fortune-seeking dwarves have arrived on the hobbit's doorstep in search of a burglar, and before he can even grab his hat or an umbrella, Bilbo Baggins is swept out his door and into a dangerous adventure.

The dwarves' goal is to return to their ancestral home in the Lonely Mountains and reclaim a stolen fortune from the dragon Smaug. Along the way, they and their reluctant companion meet giant spiders, hostile elves, ravening wolves--and, most perilous of all, a subterranean creature named Gollum from whom Bilbo wins a magical ring in a riddling contest. It is from this life-or-death game in the dark that J.R.R. Tolkien's masterwork, The Lord of the Rings, would eventually spring. Though The Hobbit is lighter in tone than the trilogy that follows, it has, like Bilbo Baggins himself, unexpected iron at its core. Don't be fooled by its fairy-tale demeanor; this is very much a story for adults, though older children will enjoy it, too. By the time Bilbo returns to his comfortable hobbit-hole, he is a different person altogether, well primed for the bigger adventures to come--and so is the reader.
